Brews and belly rubs, fluffy ears and plenty of beers – each year Hand-in-Paw hosts Barktoberfest, an event where dog lovers, pint-bearers, and Halloween connoisseurs unite into one conglomeration of spooky and cuddly fun. This year’s festivities were hosted by Cahaba Brewing Company where Dustin Massey Studios captured the spontaneous laughs and perfectly poised pups.

To prepare for the massive load of pup-tacular pics, Dustin and his two interns, Sarah and Miracle, set up the tethering system. To “tether” photographs is to snap and instantly upload images onto a laptop where they can be edited and instantly delivered to the consumer on the spot. This system is convenient for large gatherings and events, normally made for Headshots. However, it was fun to promote this special organization and to have fun with pups, pics, and pints.

One after the other dogs dragged their owners in front of the camera eager to showcase their fancy costumes. From buzzy bees and ballerinas to spiders and vicious dragons, their happy barks and wagging tails filled the brewery. If you visited, Captain Banks, Dustin’s fantastic husky mix pup, was there to give his sniff of approval before you took your photo. DMS caught the perfect angles while Sarah, the editing artist, quickly prepped the images for delivery. Seconds later, through pure magic (and a bit of expensive technology) they were available on the iPad for models to claim their images.

We delivered over a hundred images throughout the night and cannot wait until next year’s festivities.
